How the winner is decided
The whole country votes on general election day. To win outright, a candidate needs more than half of all votes cast and at least a quarter of the votes in more than half of the counties (24 or more). If no one does, the top two face a fresh election within 30 days. IEBC declares the result within seven days, and the winner's running mate becomes Deputy President.
